Syntagma Square

The central square of Athens is located in front of the 19th-century old Royal Palace that is housing the Greek Parliament since 1934. Syntagma or Constitution Square renders the focal point of the capital's center, both from a historical and a social perspective, as many commercial streets begin from its roots, while passers-by can also witness the change of the guards (Tsoliades or Evzones) occurring every hour.

Acropolis

The most acclaimed citadel of the world lies on a rocky outcrop, towering the city of Athens. Built in the 5th century B.C. at the behest of Pericles, it comprises the remains of several ancient buildings of great significance, chief among them being the Parthenon. The Acropolis is indisputably a critical symbol of the Greek legacy and the glories of Classical Greece and remains synonymous with Athens.

New Acropolis Museum

One of the most important museums in the world, the Acropolis Museum, houses more than 3.000 artifacts excavated at the Athenian Acropolis, the most significant sanctuary of the ancient city. Located in the historical area of Makriyianni, the Museum narrates the story of life on the Rock from prehistoric times until the end of Antiquity. Its exhibits culminate on the Third Floor where visitors are afforded the opportunity to view the sculptural decoration of the Parthenon, parts of which are missing and are displayed at the British Museum.

National Gallery of Greece

Reconstructed and contemporized, the National Gallery building opened its doors in March 2021 to coincide with the commemoration of 200 years of Greek Independence. Here visitors may navigate among 20.000 works of painting, sculpture, engravings, and various collections that transcend from post-Byzantine years to modern Greek art. Finally, the glass building itself is nothing short of an architectural marvel.

National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum in Athens houses some of the most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. It is considered one of the greatest museums in the world and contains the richest collection of Greek Antiquity artifacts worldwide.

Byzantine Museum

One of the most fascinating national museums you can visit, was established in 1914 on a mission to collect, study, preserve and exhibit the Byzantine and Post-Byzantine cultural heritage in the Hellenic territory. The museum collection contains a large number (approximately 30,000) of works of art such as icons, sculptures, ceramics, ecclesiastical textiles, paintings, jewelries and architectural elements (wall paintings and mosaics). Exhibits are divided into two permanent parts, the ancient (4th to 15th century) and the modern (15th to 20th century).

Benaki Museum

Although a multi-site museum, its main property is the former Benaki family mansion in central Athens. It houses Greek art from prehistorical to modern times, while its satellite departments focus on specific collections that vary from Islamic art, Chinese porcelain, toys and various extensive exhibitions. It also maintains a state-of-the-art restoration and conservation workshop in premises.

Panathenaic Stadium

Also known as Kallimarmaro (which stands for "beautifully marbled"), this is a multi-purpose stadium utilized for an assortment of events -sports, cultural or ceremonial- in Athens. In 1896 the first modern Olympic Games were held here. Built entirely by marble, it is one of the oldest stadiums in the world as it was reconstructed from the remains of the ancient Greek stadium in the same site. Reconstructed from the remains of an ancient Greek stadium, the Panathenaic is the only stadium in the world built entirely by marble and is one of the oldest in the world.

Herodium Theater

Built in 161 AD by the Athenian magnate Herodes Atticus in memory of his wife, this amphitheater was used for music concerts with a capacity of 5,000. It remained intact until its destruction by Heruli in 267 AD but was restored using solely Pentelic marble in the 1950s. It has arose as the main venue of the Athens Festival ever since, featuring a variety of acclaimed Greek and international performers every summer.

Archaeological area of Cape Sounion

Stargazing at the National Observatory of Athens

Discover the stars at the National Observatory of Athens! The beautiful visitors’ center offers private evening tours in summer, where you can look through the 8-meter Doridis telescope and enjoy the Athenian sky from the Hill of the Nymphs. Built in 1902 by P.F. Gautier and housed in an Ernst Ziller-designed building, the telescope made its debut during the solar eclipse on August 30, 1905.

Corfu

One of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece, Corfu is an island in the Ionian Sea known for its aristocratic Old Town (enlisted by UNESCO as a World Heritage site), spectacular sandy beaches and beautiful landscapes.

Kanoni

Kanoni is one of the most photographed areas in Corfu island. It took its name from an old cannon that stands on top of the hill. At the bottom of the hill, you will find Vlaherna Monastery where you can enjoy the sunrise while immersing yourself on the infinite blue of the Ionian Sea.

Mon Repos

This palace was built as a summer residence for the British governor of Corfu in 1826, but soon became a school of fine arts while its park opened to the public in 1833. Empress Sisi of Austria stayed here in 1863 while in 1864 it operated as the summer residence of Greece’s King George I. The palace was then named “Mon Repos”. In 1921 Prince Philip, husband of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II, was born.

Corfu Town

Strongly influenced by the Venetians, the French and the English, Corfu town is a brilliant base for exploration. Get lost in the narrow cobblestone alleys, the so called “kandounia”, visit museums, walk down the famous Liston promenade and stroll around the huge Spianada square. Moving away from Corfu Town, you’ll discover picturesque seaside villages, tiny verdant islets and wild natural landscapes.

Achileion Museum

The Achileion Museum was built as a summer palace for Empress Sisi of Austria. It is built in Neoclassical Pompeian architectural style, surrounded by statues. Its imperial gardens are set on the top of the hill, offering a superb view over to the Ionian Sea.

Mouse Island or Pontikonisi

This tiny green island is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Corfu and is accessible by a 5min boat ride from Kanoni.According to mythology, this rocky island is the ship of Ulysses that was stoned by god Poseidon. In the center of the Mouse Island, there is only one building, a 13th-century church of Pantokrator. This church celebrates every year on the 6th of August.

Rafaello Bar

Corfu is indeed a great location for trekkers and keen walkers. Not only does it have lush and beautiful landscapes, but it also has a handful of uphill trekking trails. The Corfu Trail, for instance, is a challenging 222-kilometer trek that covers the island’s full length. In this trekking trail, hikers will get to pass through the lush foliage of the island as well as drop by the iconic Perithia, the oldest village on the island.

Rafaello Bar

In Spianada square and Liston, the local philharmonic orchestras accompany the Epitaph playing funeral marches, the most famous of which is Amleto, and create an atmosphere of devout concentration on Holy Saturday. A few hours later, the joyous news of the resurrection replaces the grievous sounds of the philharmonic orchestras with noise, voices and countless botis (pots) thrown from the balconies. Don’t forget to keep a piece of a broken botis as a memento and, according to tradition, in order to have good luck for the rest of the year.

Meteora / Kalabaka

Meteora, a breathtaking natural wonder and UNESCO World Heritage site, is home to one of the largest and most dramatically perched complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries. It’s a place that must not simply be visited, but truly experienced.

Meteora Monasteries

Until the 1920s, the only way up to the monasteries was by rope ladders and baskets. These monasteries were built on the most inaccessible summits of Meteora in order to survive invasions across the Thessaly Plain, while new pathways and bridges will take you to all six well known monasteries. The Agia Triada, or Holy Trinity, monastery may look familiar as it was used in the James Bond film « For Your Eyes Only ». Please note that modest dress is required for visits. Museum of Natural History of Meteora and the Mushroom

The museum contains a rich collection of birds and mammals as well as a complete mushroom museum, the first of its kind in Greece. The museum houses approximately 300 exhibits of animals and several dozens of the main species of mushrooms. Our concierge will be more than happy to book your visit and offer more information.

Lake Plastiras

Lake Plastiras is one of the highest reservoirs in Europe, surrounded by mountains and woods in a magical setting. A dam was built in 1960 to prevent repeated flooding from the Tavropos River. However, the use of the lake for hydroelectricity and irrigation has been limited in order to preserve tourism at the picturesque site.

Trikala

Just under a half-hour drive from the hotel, Trikala promises a trip into the past. Its castle dates from the Byzantine period, and the Ottoman Osman Shah Mosque, dating from the 16th century, is the only mosque remaining in Trikala today. The oldest churches can be found in the Vasouri and Manavika districts in the old city.

Kaimaktsalan Ski Resort

Mount Voras, or Kaimaktsalan (also written as Kajmakčalan), is one of the highest mountains in Greece. A ski resort was opened here in 1994 on the north-eastern slope of Mount Voras. From the summit (2,480 m) you have a panoramic view of Thermaikos Gulf, lake Vegoritida and Mount Olympus.

Mount Pelion

The First Ancient Theater of Larissa was built in the foothills of the southern fortress, where the ancient city’s fortified Acropolis stood, and was constructed in the first half of the 3rd century BC. During the first centuries, the Theater served a dual purpose. Apart from theatrical performances, it also hosted the assemblies of the senior regional authority. The Theater stands proudly just a breath away from Divani Palace Larissa, which is also seen through some room balconies. Mount Pelion

Just 1 hour drive from the town of Larissa, you will have the privilege to hike at the “Home of the Ancient Greek Gods”! It’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a Biosphere Reserve. Mount Pelion

Surrounded by the view of Agrafa & Plastira lake, which is just an hour drive from Divani Palace Larissa, enjoy water biking at the artificial lake fed by Tavropos (Megdovas) river. The lake is named after the Greek general and politician Nikolaos Plastiras, who was the first to visualize the construction of an artificial lake in the area.
